I see ants running all over my plants all the time. Never tried to treat the issue as I didn't think they could do any harm. Should I be trying to get rid of them?
Good luck with your treatment Anne.

Sometimes ants will bring in aphids - that is a real problem. The ants themselves don't seem to do much, but the 'pests' they work with, are not good for your orchids, Shann.

I might try some Diatomacious Earth and see if that gets the lil buggers.
Thanks for letting me know Bruce...I never thought they could be a problem.

They're a problem when they're parading around all over my house. LOL And all my 'chids are indoors. Seriously, it's a job to keep them under control here, so I'd rather just get rid of them before it gets out of hand. Especially those nasty red ones (fire ants). Get bit by a couple of those and you have a serious hurting on.
Anne, I wouldn't be terribly worried. It isn't uncommon for ants to be attracted to orchids -- they like to lap up the sugary liquid the plants often exude on new growths and flower spikes.
Thanks Pavel,
So far, so good after the neem solution treatment. I haven't seen any more of the critters.
