Max variabilis

I think this came from Ron in a trade...lovely dark red flowers that my photos don't do any justice to! Good thing the love bird didn't find this one during her great escape...

I can't tell how much I love it! I didn't have any max until few days ago, but I don't have this one yet. I have a baby cross between this and the yellow form. Are they growing fast? I don't know if I can grow them yet, but... Is worth to try!

Margo- I think I've had this division for maybe 8 months or so and it's constantly putting out new growth, so maybe a fast grower. I'm sure Ron can answer this better than me- he is the Maxillaria King you know! ;-)

Sure I know!!! Half of his collection is on my wishlist! LOL And I am working on it...LOL

Is it really so red ? I have a yellow and a dark form , ( nearly black ) from this species

but I never saw a red variabilis
