what a wonderful bloom - stinky or not
One of my favs due to it's size
Maybe I'm showig my stupidity once again, but if you aren't knowledgeable in this species, how would you know if it is foul smelling? Is there some resource to read that "this one is and that one isn't?" The reason I ask is because I'm moving on with my enjoyment of orchids and this is one direction I would like to go....but I can't handle the smell of rotting meat in the GH because I like the fragrance of my bellini too much
Hi Howard, I guess it's about researching the next orchid you will get... ie, Bulbo echinolabium is pretty spectacular, but will you be able to give it the right environment to live in, so you will need to actually research that... and with many of the orchids when they start describing it, the fragrance is generally described, esp if it is 'unusual' or really nice.
Generally with bulbos, unless they say they smell nice, they smell foul. You really can't smell this one unless you put your nose right up to it. It's not like it scents the room. Mine actually grows just a few feet away from my bellini's
Beautiful flower. Very elegant looking.
Awesome orchid
