New Dtps -Is leaf damaged or diseased?

I bought this dtps Leopard Prince today. The blooms had dropped so it was $3.00. I couldn't resist. It's in soggy sphag. but roots look good. When I got home I noticed the newest leaf is blackened at its base on both sides.

Is this just physical damage or is it disease? Thanks, Dana

i wouldnt worry too much about that, but i would definitely repot it. just apply fungicide
just to be sure. aside from that it really looks good to me.

Thank you for your help! Please pardon these newbie questions, but can I use peroxide as the fungicide? If not, what fungicide can I use that can be found at a big-box store? (There are no specialty stores nearby.) And do I apply it to the entire plant or just the affected areas?

Dana, you can pour some peroxide in the crown and let it stay for a few min. Then take paper towel and dry it. Your phal looks very healthy!!!!

I agree with the peroxide...and repotting suggestions. Most orchids should be repotted when brought into your collection. Especially phals... Nice looking plant there.
