Very excited about new lens!

There are two lenses I have had on my wish list and the first one is coming this week! The 80-200mm Nikon f/2.8 ED AF-D telephoto!! On my D300 this will perform like a 120-300mm because of the sensor size. I can't wait to see what kind of pics I will be able to take with this lens! The other wish list lens is the 17-55 Nikon f/2.8 to replace my cheap intro 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 lens. That one will let me take much better wide angle shots in lower light settings than my current lens.

I am so excited and had to share the news with you guys. This lens is supposed to be really heavy so I am sure that within the month I will need a new tripod or monopod.

Of course I get that from most people about my orchid habits too...except you guys of course.

I am hoping this will give me a much greater range in my photography for action shots and wildlife scenes.

WOW, Shann!!! That is very exciting!!!! After my camera was stolen last weekend I told my husband I need now a new one and....... a GOOD one!!! So I'll be waiting for your pics!!!

Congrats Shann!... Both lenses are great!... Especially the pro 80-200!... I've heard those 18-55's are among the best 18-55's in the world and have much more image quality than canon or sony 18-55's... But if you want to replace it with a 17-55, I recommend you to take a look at slrgear.com or kenrockwell.com and check it's optical properties... If you want a good low light/Wide angle lens, maybe the excellent Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 with an all metal body and EXTREAMLY low distortion would be a better choice...
