Ron, giving them direct sunlight was an accident based on my newness to orchid growing over a year ago. They have grown greatly in size, and all seem healthy to me. I know this may seem a bit simplistic, but they only get direct light for about 3 hours, everything after that is shaded--and they seem to be real happy with that amount of light with their prolific growing. I am hesistant to give growing advice though---I don't have the experience of so many of ya'll here.
One of them, an Odontobrassia, got a little stippling during the brightest months--and I thought he was maybe a little hot. I responded by moving him a back away from the window, effectively shading him. In response, he has leaned over even farther out of the pot to get back up against the window and I had to weight the pot down so he wouldnt tip it. He likes the light I guess. :-)
