Encyclia alatum - blooming in fall?

I bought an Encyclia this Aug from an orchid garage sale. The family had several huge pots of Encylia that were auctioned off as alatum. I bought a smaller one without any tag and was told it must be alatum from division.

A month after I bought it, I noticed that both new growths started to spike. We had so much rain lately, 1 spike rotted, but I saved the last one by adding a fan even though it's grown outside.

Question: Isn't alatum spring/early summer bloomer? Maybe I have something else?

Enc alata is a summer bloomer for me...early July

I have one alata which blooms in June in Houston. Now I don't remember why I bought the second one knowing they were same orchids. Silly me!

How can one pass up a garage sale orchid...never see that around here

I called it garage sale because it was in their backyard. But the orchid society organized the event. A member passed away, the family was trying to downsize the collection. I went to 2 such sales in a month, bought some huge catts. These kinds of sales are fun and often priced well, but I still feel sad to attend knowing that the person loved and cared for them, often for many years...
