    I would recommend repotting it as well. As it is an Oncidiinae subtribe orchid, here's what I'd do if it were mine:

    Repot Oncids Article

    And I'd keep it in clay since its an oncid...it breathes better than plastic and allows the roots to dry out a little better, which can be a way to prevent root rot....

    Good luck any way you go with it!!

    Hi Derek,
    I really appreciate the links to such detailed instructions. They certainly are good info for such a newbie as I am.

    I have another question..I hope you don't mind. I like plastic pots because you can see what's going on down under, but I like clay pots for just the reasons you mentioned. I've been wondering if it would be a problem to get the roots to turn loose of the clay pot they're in, though. So, what do you think...advice?
