Unknown Oncidium, in spike forever?

One question: When does the spike stop getting taller and start getting flowers? I've never seen one do this...but then i've never had a tiny one mounted either. This spike has been growing for at least a month...maybe 6 weeks and is now 9+ inches tall.

It will flower when IT"S ready. I have a large oncidium that's been growing 2 spikes since November. One is 43 inches and the other is 35 inches. The larger is just starting to branch and NO buds in sight. You just have to be patient.

Wow...guess i'll just keep an eye on it and put it on a new shelf so the spike will have plenty of room.

I was just wondering today when a couple of spikes on an Oncid would finally come around and bloom for me. Its been for--ev--er! *sigh* Orchids teach us patience.....they do only bloom when they're ready.

When you are right...you are right! I've been trying to stay out of the room. Its like waiting for molasses to thaw out on a cold day.
