My experience is limited, but I had to do multiple re-pottings on a cattleya not too long ago. This cat was visiting me and it knocked the poor orchid down and out of its pot TWICE within 2 days. I had to re-pot again a THIRD time a week later because I put the plant too far down into the container and I was worried about rotting.

Anyway, after the last re-potting, the plant got pretty healthy again...the shriveled bulbs have gradually come back and are nice and healthy, and there is a new bulb and leaves growing, so I extremely stoked.

If I were you, I would just bite the bullet and re-pot right away. It sounds like you have a nice, well-drained pot in mind. Your leaves are healthy and green, so I don't think your plant will get shocked all that much. It will probably take it a week or two to get used to its new surroundings, but the turnaround will be pretty quick, and you and the plant will be much happier within a month...rather than having this constant doubt and worry in the back of your mind like I did.

I looked all over, but the stores around here don't carry the plastic pots with good drainage holes, but they do sell clay orchid pots with the slits in the side and decent drainage in the bottom, so I went for it. Mt catt is now re-re-potted, and I hope it starts the get better soon. As for my pretty pot, I have other plants that could use a new home soon, so I'll save it
Oh, and should I worry about the outer leaves tendency to lie down flat instead of stand? Most cats that I have seen have mostly upright leaves. Should I tie them up of just let them do whatever. It's grown like that since I got it years ago >.>
