Bulbophyllum maquilingense, philippines

hi folks,

this tiny bulbo is named after mt. makiling in laguna and had several attempts to bloom, most of it blasted coz of the heat, and its by far the hardest to photograph.
the flower is way to heavy for its spindly spike and no breathing allowed while taking pix.
it sometimes opens a bit more, but thats it and the show is over in a few hours...

Ah thanks for sharing this ron, I have one myself, tho I havent seen them in bloom yet.
I will take a close look at my bulbos maybe some of them are in bloom.

keep it moist as much as you can during those hot days. this species comes up with severals spikes per bulb, so dont give up....

hi jojo,
it has a slight husky scent, and you have to get really close to detect it.
i dont mind the stinkers, lol.
