I bought this vanda three years ago in Florida. At the time, it had a spike. Although it did bloom, there were only three flowers and they were pitiful. This was only my second vanda at the time, and I struggled to keep it happy. I have several ascocendas, and they aren't nearly as demanding as Pachong.
Then we built the greenhouse and things improved. The only problem was that it tried to spike just when the dead of winter hit and the greenhouse wasn't at it's warmest. (It took us a while that first winter to get our heating right in the greenhouse. Boy was that a stressful time.)
This past winter, I went with floral water picks to keep it as hydrated as possible. I misted like crazy. All the hard work has paid off. I'm so proud of these flowers. There's five total and they are fat and sassy!
