    Default Psychopsis Papilio

Just opened yesterday , it is grown in a slat basket with loose Spag. watered when dry . The picture could be better ,I had to get on a ladder to take it . Gin

It's a beaut, Gin! That's a plant I have no room for. I'll live vicariously off your photos - post frequently and often!

Glad you like it Julie , I got it as a freebie with an order about 3 years ago , it is a pain to find a place where the spike won't get broke . Gin

Very cool, and I do like the photograph...very nice. I've thought of getting one of these too, but just don't have the space, so I'll also live vicariously through your photos.

    ooh I love it!
I think psychopsis have a really cool shape,
with the pretty frillies & straight antennae, yum!
i've got a very young album papilio,
so it'll be a while for flowers for me
and i don't even get to enjoy the mottled purple foliage
    in the meantime.
    so pretty, thanks for posting,
let's see some of that leaf next time, too.

I know what you mean. The spike on mine keeps growing & growing.I,ve had to move it as it was only about 12" away from my 400w HPS & i was scared it would burn the end of the spike(well 2 spikes).
    Beautiful bloom.
    1 off my favorites.

I always loved those, but I got greedy and let it keep blooming for three years or so, non-stop. It literally bloomed itself to death. If / when I get another, I'm definitely cutting the spike after one year so the plant gets a chance to recoup and put out new growth...

That is just lovely. These flowers always look so incredibly regal to me. I don't think I've ever noticed what the actual plant looks like. I'm sure I've seen one, but those flowers just grab my attention so completely I don't remember anything else.
