Sun burnt Phalaenopsis

Hmmmm its growing new roots. One out the bottom leaf and three under the bark. Four leaves have fallen off already. I dont think there is a chance seeing there is no sign of leaf production. Why the roots tho?...maybe it will fight the good fight....i hope so...any ideas??

I think your Phals will produce a keiki and that you can save. Don't give up on that Phals, they are tough and will surely survive. Just continue your watering and don't expose in direct sunlight, better give it a lot of humidity to increase root production.

I think that if there is new root production, the plant will probably produce a keiki just like Bdelfiero says.

Hang in there, Andrew. Maybe it will pull through. A root is at least a good sign.

so, Im down to one leaf left at the very bottom. I took all the dried leaf bracts and cut them off at the rachis (shaft). Allowing it to dry more to discern mold. The new roots that were growing between the leaves are now dried and dead. It still has a good amount of healthy roots down below. Ive been misting it everyday and now one of the bottom/only eyes just popped. It looks to me like its spiking. Damn thing wouldnt spike for 3 years. I guess it needed a little more then neglect

...I hope this isnt its last spike. I also hope that its not a pike and a keiki instead......ill post a picture later today

Keep your fingers crossed. I had one that had crown rot last year and did the same thing. It turned out that what i thought was a spike was really a keiki. It started out looking like yours. Good Luck!

Bill has said exactly what I have been thinking, reading these posts. I, also had a Phal with crown rot, and it threw out a spike with two flowers & a keiki. Besides, Andrew, you can always give it a little vodka! Cheers & good luck...Betty :-)
