    Default Phrag. Chuck Acker

    A relatively new hybrid, this is Eric Young X wallisii. First blooming for me--I really like the flower shape.

    Very nice Phrag, Louis! I can't say the name does much to enhance the beauty of the flower, though...(no offense to whomever Chuck is or was.) It just has all the poetry of Phrag. spare tire.

    Thanks guys.... I've got two of them, both just opening, but the second one is having some deformity issues with the dorsal--not sure why.

    Julie, Chuck's name may not be poetic, but he's arguably *the* foremost Phrag hybridizer in the US. Only sells flasks.

    Gilda, yes, you're right! The form is very much like China Dragon, though the petals are longer on this cross, the shoulders somewhat more broad, and the color not China Dragon's intense orange. Good catch of the similarity though!

    I'm a new orchid grower, but I purchased a flask from Mr. Acker, Phrag. 'Lynn Evans-Goldner', split it up (probably into too many pots), but I have 3 8" pots w/ 9-12 small plants, & a few smaller ones-I hope I will be able to grow all of these to blooming size-it's just such a rush to get a flask & see the seedlings growing, it's an educational experience, even if they don't succeed (although all are healthy after 3 weeks)-I hope I'm successful & that they continue to grow & thrive...Thistle

    Thistle, wow, that's incredibly brave--having just started, and growing seedlings out from flask!

    Great to hear they're doing well so far--Chuck has some very nice stuff, definitely worth the time and effort it'll take to grow them to blooming!
