I grow a few plants besides orchidsthat I find cool and interesting. Some of the bromeliads we have growing under the benches in the greenhouse have started blooming. These two are particularly cool. I don't know the names, sorry.

I'm pretty sure the first is a Aechmea faciata - (Morgana) or something close to it, and the second I've seen but cant stick a name to it!! Beautiful blooms!! Ill be owning one of those in a few weeks.

Bruce, We used to have one just like that. Liked it so much we gave it a name...Queenie! You have excellent taste in plants...Betty :-)

Bromeliads and orchids go so well together. I grow a few in the orchid house. Yours look great.
Bruce, the purple-blue parts are the actual flower, the pink is refered to as the inflorescence, and each pink 'petal-looking' thing isn't a petal it's a bract, a modified leaf to make it look like a petal to attract pollinators. The second bomeliad i think is some kind of Neoregelia.
