What's the best thing about growing orchids?

Pretty much what everyone else has said. The sense of accomplishment, the research, the tinkering to get the growing conditions just right for a certain plant. But the best part, by far, for me is the glazed look in my husbands eyes when I show him a plant/bloom that I'm stoked about It's exactly the same look I get when he talks about golf.

I get that look from many of my friends when I babble on about the 'chids!

Yup, got that look myself today when I showed a friend one of my blooming plants. "Oh isn't that nice." (said in the most monotone voice you could ever imagine)

Actually, I only talk orchids with my orchid friends. I really have a mish mash of friends. If I had a party, I doubt anyone would get along.
