I have this penchant for really tight orchid plantings BUT in an open space, as you say Jojo. I fill up almost every available space on the mount.
I notice that they often grow better when planted close to each other as opposed to a single specimen planted on its own. Perhaps it's true what they say about the increase in humidity when they're planted in clusters.
