I find it very interesting to see different ways to grow these wonderful plants. I don't question why it works. I do see that the light requirements are meet with additional fluorscent lighting. The roots have a added humid environment. Your plant looks very healthy and happy. If I were a vanda fan, I would give it a try. When you water your plant, do you just tip it on its side to remove the excess water when you are done ? Take Care,Rich
