Indoor Under Lights Grow Area

It is easy enough to put a plug on the end of a wire cord, but I have never directly wired a light fixture. Shouldn't be too hard (ZAP! ouch!) But I tend to go for the shop fixtures that already come wired.

I have been looking around for some lights and i decided to buy a T5 4 feet 8 bulb, it should be here tomorrow and as far as i know a T5 will produce more light than a t8 or t12 even if we think the t12 is brighter. Our eyes just ajust to the light and its hard to tell. I bought a light metter a couple of month ago and i have been playing around with it and everytime i messure the light on a T5 and a T8, the T5 always gives me more light. I know that using reflectors and stuff like that will make a huge difference on the light levels so try reflecting the light as much as possible lol. I dont know if you can make a cattleya bloom under T8's but i have bloomed a dendrobium using a T8 and cattleya seedlings do really good under them too. My friend grows Vandas under T5 and he gets them to flower so switching to T5's might be better but they are more money. I paid almost $300 for mine and i'm planning on getting another one soon lol
