I agree. This years' mid-year show is a disappointment!

The orchid shows way back in the 1980's were, in my opinion, the BEST and most FABULOUS ever in the history of Philippine Orchid Shows!

If the current POS present board would not like to see your comments !

Actually , based from several years of being a non-member and a member of the POS . The show exhibit is gradually shrinking even the quality of the participants are slowly shrinking .

Most of the appeal are not the young people but mostly retirees and oldies.

The biggest NEWS in the 64th Mid-Year Orchid and Garden Show was the lost of more than Php 200,000 worth or plants from 3 to 4 garden stall holders.

Some say that it might be an inside job?????

Well I think they SHOULD READ these comments as this would be an eye-opener for them as to the direction and to the quality of the shows being presented each year.

But in fairness to the organizers - the current decline of the shows could also be due to other factors like:

1. The decline and/or hardship in the current economy (the recession worldwide). People just simply do not have the money to spend on plants or maybe are spending more time trying to earn a living than spending time tending to and raising orchids where the market isn't so great.

2. Global warming affecting the quality, growth and natural environment of the plants.

3. Illegal logging and denudation of the natural forest in effect decreasing the number of native orchids.

Just a few things I thought of contributing to the decline in the qualtiy of orchid shows locally ....
