I cannot believe these plants. They are like weeds...this is the first Cattleya (let alone species) that not only lived for me but blooms like crazy. The one in the pot has the most buds, but there are several sheaths on the one in the basket that are waiting their turns. I think I need to change my rvo picture to the maxima. It might take awhile to choose a picture though...these little flowers are just too photogenic!
First; the two largest divisions in bloom together this time.
When the buds develop they are white, and as they open their color begins to slowly blush the flower.
The last bit of white still touches the labellum and adds an unusual quality; if only briefly. The larger flower has only been open less than 24 hours.
From behind the lip reminds me of a bridal train...if not a colorful one.
