About 16 inches of snow here so far and no end in sight. We are southeast of one of the Great Lakes and experience what is called Lake Effect snow. Humidity from the lake, warmer than the air, rises and turns into snow, dumping truckloads for over 100 miles in the direction the wind is blowing. No forcast catches it - but it is beautiful. Can not wait to bundle up, go outside and sit on the patio to watch the chickadees and the nuthatches and the woodpeckers at the suet feeder. Last weekend I could see turkey walking in the fields, they stuck out like sore thumbs with their dark feathers against the white snow, feasting on the corn that the pickers missed.
