The old flower spikes seen in the complete plant pic, tell their story ; this lovely thing flowers twice a year, usually double spikes , often simultaneously - esp. in the sumer. now in our winter the second spike will follow the first giving me 3 months or more of flowers. Not large flowers of course, 4, barely 5 cm in a north-south direction. Sometimes more flowers on the spike too - but there is a distinct difference between summer and winter flowerings here, with these tropical plants.
BTW - this is the name on the label ; Jay doesn't illustrate this variety, and mine is far less colourful than the one he does illustrate. But I like it, whatever. Also note that I have another Vanda species - boxallii - which is much bigger, and quite different - inherently confusing I think !
