Sorry, Still can't get an avatar

Hi Bruce....
I went to "settings" and then to "edit avitar" , but I only saw the avitars that OT has chosen.
I want a photo of one of my phals. It is stored on downloads in my computer and also by Yahoo in my e-mail storage. I think I know how to resize it if needed........but I do not know the first steps to get started. I tried to uncheck the "don't use avitar" circle, but it did not uncheck.
Maybe the problen is that I have not had the 5 necessary posts. This is my fifth.
Please help a phal-newbie AND a computer-newbie,,,,,,,,,,,,,THANKS,,,,,,,,

You must try after you have 5 posts. Here is the information to help:

How to get an Avatar (photo) next to your user name in posts: These small images are called Avatars. They are displayed below your username on all posts that you make. There are two kinds of avatars: those provided by OrchidTalk and those that you upload yourself.

RVO's OrchidTalk has provided a set of avatars, and you may select one that best describes your personality. Once you have posted at least five messages on the forum, you can visit your 'User CP' (user control panel) and select an avatar. This link can be seen when logged into our community in the top right of your screen. The link is called "Settings".

RVO has also enabled custom avatars, which allows you to upload an avatar image from your computer or from a location on the world wide web. There are image size restrictions. Also, we do not allow the use of QR Code Blocks for custom avatars. For more information about avatars and to view the avatars provided, click here.
