Ron, I have no clue what is the name of this little cutie, but I can tell you that for only three hours bloom I will be sticking my nose in until the flower falls off... Don't know if I will have enough time for a picture... LOL

but thats exactly what i did, sniffing-taking shots-researching in 3 hours, it kept me going, hehe.
the first bloom i missed out, when i got home it had already finished blooming and i thought, what the heck is going on?

Definitely a Thrixpermum. The flowers last at most 2 days, usually one day or less.

Great genus. Kind of hard to identify from photos. A lot of internal calli etc.

Nice, but not a Thrixspermum trichoglottis, wenzelii should be the right epithet. lanhua showed some time ago pictures of his plant.

Yeah, but Thr. trichoglottis is not know from the Philippines.

What you need to remember is that the Philippines are an archipelago of over 7,100 isalnds. The majority of these islands have not been explored botanically.

Several of us visit the Philippines a couple of times a year and if we do find at least one new species per trip we are very disappointed.

Thrixspermum trichoglottis is a widely distributed species found throughout much of south-east Asia. Just because Thrixspermum trichoglottis is not recorded from the Philippines does not mean that it does not occur there.

I have a German friend who lives in northern Mindoro and behind where he lives are many mountains. Fortunately, my friend loves exploring in the mountains near his place, and over the past couple of years he has been able to add much information on the distribution of orchid species, from both within the Philippines, and other south-east Asian countries.

All the following species which have been found in northern Mindoro were not previously recorded from the Philippines:
Phaius borneensis,
Chrysoglossum ornatum,
Calanthe speciosa,
Vanilla platyphylla, just to name a few.
