Last one - I promise!

My phrags are all relatively new to my collection and this is the first to bloom (can't take credit - RVO shipped it to me in bud...)

Funny story...a Thai friend pops over a couple of times a month and politely checks out the current bloomers. He goes bonkers over any slipper orchid he sees. I asked if he wanted some photos of them for his restaurant and he excitedly agreed, "but just of the wild ones, please." I asked what he meant by 'wild ones'.

He's so used to the natives paphs of Thailand, that he believes all slippers (including phrags, but I didn't disabuse him of the idea) are wild in Thailand and all the others, especially phals, are mass produced. (I'm glad CITES doesn't think that!) I'll have to keep him out of Trader Joe's. He'd cry if he ever saw a paph on sale there...

RVO has such nice plants, love the petal colours on that! And well done for keeping it alive Julie!

Oh and I do like the idea of Free Range Paphs and Phrags! I don't think CITES will like my battery farmed orchids at all!

Can you imagine the sight of a hillside covered with "wild" paph and phrag hybrids? Pretty cool idea anyway. Your plant is beautiful!

I really like those too--the way the red is only on one side of the petals.

Thanks all, but the keeping it alive part is a big joke on this one. I've had it so little time, all the credit goes to Bruce and Louis. The only claim I can make is that I haven't dropped it on its spike!

For my first phrag, just a question...

The lower pic is of blooms #2 and 3. (When 3 was about to open, #1 just up and ejected itself. It never faded or wilted. It just released. Blew me away. Whatever...) Anyway, I have bud #4 fat and ripe and I see a #5 in there. How many will it crank out? I'm thinking of phragenstein as I ask this, but am actually asking how many blooms you're getting on yours down in Ark?

Very nice blooms & plant.
The flowers do look very similar to Phragenstein but with Phrag lineyanum thrown into the mix i,m not sure how many @ a time you will get.
