What a perfect name! It appears that the substance is very thick also.

It does have very heavy substance. Most of the Alaticaulias have thick, waxy blooms that last quite a while. They also bloom sequentially, so they're in bloom for a long time. Most of them are also fairly temperature tolerant, performing well in either intermediate or cool conditions. Some even do well in warm conditions.
