Hybrids bred through maybe a dozen generations, and perhaps containing the genes of as many as a dozen different species ; so far removed from the originals as to be a different shape, different size, different colour.... And in the case of paphs, there are special words used for different kinds of hybrids, among the specialists - "primary" = a cross of two species, "novelty" a cross between one or more of the newly discovered "Chinese" paph species, sometimes crossed with an old hybrid, "Complex" as explained, and so on.
Hope this helps ; I'm afraid that after many years in the orchid world we come to speak our own jargon and don't realise others do not understand it.
