This plant has great sentimental value for me.It was given to me by an uncle of mine, who introduced me to orchids. He received this plant as a gift from the late Eric Young (of the famed Eric Young Foundation and the Orchid Consevatorium on the island of Jersey, in the Channel Islands). This particular clone is the var 'Excelsior' FCC RHS, and has won many awards at shows in Malaysia.

Yes it is a very old cross registered in 1919 Den pulchellum x Den Illustre. Den Illustre = pulchellum x chrysotoxum registered in1895 by no less a personage than Veitch! So you see there are 2x pulchellum. in this cross.
