Today started off normally and I decided to pay a visit to my friend's orchid nursery with another good friend of ours in tow as I had just rescued a paph barbatum from a friend's son who was bored with caring for the said plant and I needed a new pot to repot the plant. After some chit chat, we proceeded to lunch and then took a leisurely stroll back to the nursery. I had thus far resisted buying anything and it appeared that I would only have to pay for the cost of the pot until my eyes rested on an interesting dark green mottled with silver grey leaves plant. Curiosity piqued, I enquired from my friend what orchid this was and thats when I heard the clarion call as he said "This is GOOD STUFF!". Turns out I was looking at phalaenopsis lindenii and thats when I realised I was looking at a whole lot of orchids hanging around the same area which I had not spotted earlier! My friend then told me that he was helping a friend of his dispose of the orchids for a good price and thats when my saliva glands started going into overdrive as I started looking at the names of the plants. To cut a long story short..I ended up using all the money I had in my wallet and got the following:-
1. Phal. Lindenii
2. Phal. Celebensis
3. Phal. Javanica
4. Phal Sumatrana
5. Phal. Fuscata
6. Phal. Deliciosa
7. Phal Cornu Cervi (its a wild species but not sure which var as there was no tag but it was a big mature plant!!)
I ended up spending ard RM150 which is around USD 50.
Here are a few I didnt buy as I had to let my friend buy some!
Phal. Venosa
Phal Tetraspis
PHal. Fusciata
Phal. Violacea var Mentawai
Phal. Maculata
Phal Floresensis
PHal Gigantea
Im still cursing the fact I didnt bring more money!
