To your first question - most probably is. All my dendrobes are potted in coarse charcoal chunks. I grow them under the same conditions as for my cattelyas and strap leaf vandas. Water twice a day; fertilise weakly weekly. Not knowing where you live it is hard for me to say whether my cultural conditions would be suitable for you.
Both the plants are equally vigorous growers and both are first time bloomers but undoubtedly Green Lantern is more floriferous.
