Paphiopedilum Haynaldianum

I don't know what I did but my Paph. haynaldianums are-a-blooming outside my window sill.

I took them inside my room from where it was hanging outside my window for some photos and as you all can see it is growing quite well. I just left it there not even bothering about it, letting it just grow bigger and thicker each day until the day it started sending out all these spikes. Unfortunately because I've been quite busy at work lately, it is only now that I had the chance to take the photos so as you can see some flowers have wilted already.

Fantastic display, Jojo. Pity you didn't have time to take photos when the blooms were at their best.For me it was the opposite - I had so much time to take pictures of my Paph philippinense that I kept putting it off to catch the moment when it was at its best with 5 flowers open at the same time. Instead when 3 flowers had opened the bulbul, a fruit-eating bird nipped off the buds and the flowers. They must have thought they were some sort of fruits.I'm posting a pix of the only flower (damaged)that was left after after the bulbul attack.

Hey Yew that is so sad. It appears that your Philippinense is a good quality plant as I can see the colors are dark.

Yes those birds they are indeed a problem even for me where they fly into my grow area and start nipping off the buds and eat the petals. Sometimes I have a plant that has newly opened flowers and then after my early watering regimen, I go off to work only to return home and discover sometimes that only the stalk has been left.

Darned orchid flower eating birds. Why can't they just feed off some other flowers outside along the street and there are plenty of them to choose from? Grrrr.....

Loved that Paph haynaldianum blooms prolific.

The flower of Paph philippinense looks like it is already matured.
I saw the photo that it has starting bear fruit, already self-pollinated.
