I'm proud to say that I have managed to flower an orchid that was near certain death. I bought an epidendrum radican (sp?) at HD for 5 bucks. It was bug infested and looked as close to death as it could. I nursed it back to health, and a shoot sprouted. Then some buds formed. Today one of the buds started to open!! It is school bus yellow and looks like the lip might have some orange or red on it. Yay!

When I get my batteries charged at my friends house I'll post a pic. Dang, I really hate not having a charger. I think it is time to buy a new digicam.

It has opened more today. It looks like it is opening upside down, but in perfect form. I'm never seen one IRL, maybe they are freaky like that? I never moved the position once the buds formed, I want them to stay fairly uniform.

Some of the reed stem epidendrums produce non-resupinate flowers, (i.e., they do not rotate and appear upside down, with the lip on top).

That is exactly the case. Another bud opened and it is the same way. I think I found a new favorite orchid, this one is so cool.
