paraphal growth initiation

i was wonderin.. what are the conditions that initiate a paraphals growth
is it strictly time or are there any environmental factors to it as well?
also does that go for flower production or is that simply year round? when ever the plant has the energy to do so?

I have pretty limited paraphal experience, but for the 2 that I have I would say that they grow pretty slow. I have mine mounted on cork with just a little bit of moss. They get a daily drenching and are grown very bright and warm. My labukensis bloomed about 2 months ago. great flowers! I really like those plants.
