cattleya NOID - id help would be lovely!!!

picked this up for a few buttons a while back, when it opened the other day it was so lovely... then i noticed its amazing smell in the early morning...extremely powerful perfume in the wee small hours...any help with the id would be much appreciated!! the grower was just getting rid of them and couldnt be bothered to find a name to give me...

I think this isn't a Cattleya. I reckon its an Encyclia x Cattleya or similar.

thanks, roy, i had thought of that too and have been checking lists of crosses and just not finding anything... the flower shape kinda screams it, a bit like C Violacea x Enc Atroniceum...but ya never know...i like the grower and i know he was a bit busy when i was hounding him in my broken ass chinese, so maybe i can catch him at a better time next weekend :-) thanks for the feedback!

Yes definitely looks like a hybrid, the only encyclia hybrid that comes across to my mind is Encyclia adenocaula X Encyclia cordigera. It definitely is a Encyclia cordigera hybrid.

Lovely bloom Shane! I can see from the flower shape and lip, this orchid does have encyclia in its background. Lovely.
