Sorry no help on the ID,
but I'm interested in hearing what anybody can suggest to which it's similar.
I love that red, and the pointy pouch shape.
I especially like the black warts coalescing into black tipped petals.
it looks deadly serious,
you're lucky,
it's a very handsome NoID.
I'm with Ennui on that very kewl pointed lip... and the colour... they musta been breeding this one for those vinicolours... funny, the dorsal reminds me of charlesworthii...
well, I bet I've confused the whole thing even more now so I will just shut up now until the brains gets to this one....
Cheers
Tim
That pouch makes me think there is some sukhakulii in there somewhere?
unfortunately, it won't be possible to identify it--there are a zillion hybrids that it could be. nice color though.
lol!
Ennui, it sure does look deadly serious. Two-ton, definitely a hybrid, but as Jason said, identification is going to be next to impossible. Very cool flower, just grow and enjoy!
Many thanks all of you! In fact, despite my Germanic heritage, I'm getting more and more used to the fact that I won't ever be able to ID many of my flowers, so to H-E-Double Hockeysticks with that. In fact, I bought two paphs - one in bloom, one budding - this morning for a total of five bucks, and when I took them out of the bag at home, I beheaded the one with the bloom. It was a lovely pinkish-white....
Achoy, such is life, I guess. Meanwhile, my garagetop rainforest was completed last wekend, so I put up a bunch of pix here:

(Those with no stomach for carnivorous plants may go straight to the orchid folder ;-) My current favorite is the Ascocenda with the enormous roots....
Enjoy, cheers and thanks again!
Hans
Boy. I'm jealous. If I'd tried to put up something on my garage roof the city, county and probably state would all be after me for a zillion code violations... BTW I love the hat! And don't knock that German heritage.. as a typical American, I'm a wild mixture - but at least 1/4 German/Prussian. (depending on the time in history) And I know what at least 80% of my plants are! LOL The most important thing is to enjoy them! And stop making me miserable bragging about those cheap prices!![]()
80 percent! Now _you_ are making me miserable, Diane. So far, only one vendor of any of my thirtysomething orchids was able to provide me with a proper scientific name. For all the other flowers, I had to google and ask in forums til my eyes bled...
The hat isn't mine, by the way. In fact, even the guy below the hat isn't me, but rather a friend and fellow plant junkie. Also 100% German, as you can see from his stern mien :-)
Saturday is Taipei Weekend Flower Market time again. I plan to empty my wallet into the tills of various orchid and carnivore sellers there, then come home with that insane, ear-to-ear, just-spent-a-hunnerd-bucks-on-plants-and-I'm-in-heaven grin.
I'll keep y'all posted!
cheers
Hans
Well...today was Weekend Flower Market Day, and as threatened earlier, I came, saw and went bananas! Here's today's loot:
http://www.albumtown.com/showalbum.p...d=35854&page=2
(pages 2 and 3)
Only four NOIDs out of eight (d. parishii and d. linawianum aren't currently in flower, hence no pics, and the brown phals were too expensive, so I didn't bring them home), not too bad a quota!
Enjoy, and if anyone knows anything about them there NOIDs, please do comment....
cheerio!
Hans
