I'm pretty lucky.
- My husband likes the orchids and oohs and aahs over each new bud, root, whatever I'm carrying on about. (If he's faking it, I love him anyway!)
- My mother has gotten hooked and carries on as much as me - she often greets me with "Look at the new buds I have!" when I go to her house.
- And my six-year-old grandson has announced that "plants are Grandma's toys." Plus, he likes to "help" me mist them, and mist me, and drink from the mister, and mist the dogs.....
Overall, we have fun. Or I do, and that's what matters, right?!
Do we all talk to our plants? Yeah... I was outback earlier with my husband. He asked if one large plant (has been sulking since being repotted) is going to die. I began touching the leaves and explaining how it was a good plant, and then added "you're a good plant aren't you?"...which is the point where my husband went back in the house. lol My neighbors like to peek at the weird gal that talks to her plants...it's especially fun when it's early morning and my hair is all kinds of crazy. I look the part of the crazy plant lady at those moments...100%.And my plants grow great. So I talk to them, touch them...and dance jigs
and in generallly go bleepin' nutty over a new spike or sheath. I also curse at bugs
and freak out over breaking off a precious flower bud.
These are all normal...just not to our families and friends that do not raise or have an interest in orchids.
Sigh...hello I am Connie and I am a bloomin' Orchid addict!! Now...anybody know of a good sale on shelves...it looks like I might need one or three more. he he

I with ya, Connie! I get up at 3:15 in the morning so I'll have some extra time to spend with my orchids before I have to go to work!! Yeeks, that does sound crazy, doesn't it?!?!
