Okay, here's the newly potted St. Swithin. Check out those nice symetrically drilled holes, huh?

I told you I take your advice to heart!
I like the clear pot. Can keep an eye on things now.

Hi Pete! Yes, it is in a clear pot (but w/ the media, not so see through I guess!)

Oh ok. Is that one of KK's pots? Looks nice especially with the holes.

Yes, it is the 5.5" slightly less deep one. Actually I am going to drill out my 5" tonight, in case the haynaldianum comes bare root.

Hey, speaking of that, I have been meaning to ask you. I had leftover freshly soaked media from potting the Swithin - remember I thought I was going to get the hay. and do them both together? So anyway, I soaked too much, and its still soaking. Think it will be okay to pot w/ on Thursday if necessary, or should I use fresh bark? I know you don't soak your bark, but maybe have an opinion?

I think it should be fine. You're right, I don't soak my bark. It's a waste of time and water.

Many growers don't soak their media before potting. We do, but whether you do or not seems to be a matter of personal preference, nothing more. If the stuff has soaked long enough that it's starting to smell yogurty, like it's decomposing (ahem!), toss it into the mulch pile and start over.

Thanks you two! I sniffed it this morning, and it seemed fine. I changed the water too.
