A long tale ; one of our members ( in my O.S.) , a Singaporean by birth, went back to Singapore ( and is Chairman of Judging at WOC this year) and of course he couldn't take his dendrobes with him, so most went to Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh (Scotland) where they hold the UK National Collection of Dendrobes.
Someone noticed a pod on D chapaense, which has been sown, and a quantity of Compots came to our last meeting on sale for a low price as a fund raiser. I bought this one.
So it's not one plant here but a lot of babies - four of which are in flower or bud.
It's not lnown if it was selfed, or naturally pollinated from the collection (which one ! ) , so the label cautiously says D.chapaense hybrid.
I can't find it in IOSPE, but have found a ferw mentions and pics via the internet ; I don't know if it could be the pure species, but it certainly seems to be an easy grower.
Now I can't make up my mind whether to divide into a dozen ? plants or just drop it on in a larger pot - probably the latter.
