A Phillipines orchid I believe -so no doubt other regular posters here can show us better examples ; not easy to find in the western world , but after having it on my wish list for several years I discovered it on a list of seed-raised species from an Italian nursery. My plant was "NBS" three years ago, and I have regularly flowered it with ever more flowers every year since , so an easy one . ( Good - we can do with a few of those ! ) . Now in a five inch or thereabouts half-pot, and this year showing six flowers currently , maybe another one to come. Each represents the flowering of a new growth, it seems. I find it a delightful little orchid to look at every time I enter the greenhouse.

Now Geoff, I don't get it. The leaves on mine grow so close together the flowers are often folded up between them and go unseen. I have mine in bright T5 light and feed it weakly every week. What are you doing?

I don't understand T5 ? Mine hangs up . as I so often say, along with my Vandas, Aerides, Bulbos, etc etc so gets more light than the paphs, oncids and catts which are down on th bench. I spray all the hanging orchids almost daily,in the summer months, less often in the winter . Even twice daily in hot weather , and that spray is rain water, my pump drawas from an 7 gallon bin, and occasionally , like every other day when I fill it up I add a canful ( 2 gallon) from the main water/nutrient tank ( 600EC 6.5pH ) - so they get fed very weakly at every spraying, but taken down and dunkled in the main nutrient/water tank every 10 days or so.

Lovely color and form on this. I certainly agree that it is nice to have some "easy growers" I love a challenge, but there are limits. I am now trying to grow a few 'ever bloomers'. Thank you for all your cultural information and insights. AL

The name game continues. C. retisquama Rchb.f 1857 was renamed C. rubra Ames 1910. I believe rubra is now considered a synonym as is C. latipetala also named in 1910 by Ames. Where were the DNA taxonomists when we needed them?

well, no need for DNA tests in this case. the first published name should be used, unless it was moved to another species, genus etc.
