Ok, Ok, the catt is out of the bag. Yes, I do admit, there is some photo manipulation going on. I recently purchased MS Digital Image Pro and am playing around with it. I can cut, crop, etc. but really haven't explored the shadowing, smoothing, and other effects that make these photos look real. As we all know, there are some people that are pretty good with this technology and can fool most of us all of the time (within reason).
The photo of the plant was taken from a ways back. It is a fairly small image that I enlarged. That's why it is fuzzy. This is precisely the reason digital photography hasn't totally replaced film. For print work enlarged over a certain size, the current digital technology can't yet match the finer grain films. That's not my opinion, that's almost a direct quote from the likes of Charles Fitch and other professional photographers that do a lot of print work.
BTW, the boys in the photo lab have some tricks of their own they can play as well.
