Default Cat walkeriana 'coerulea' x Cat bowringiana 'coerulea'

    C. bowringiana is no longer a Cattleya, so the hybrid becomes a Ctta , registered under the name Edith Loomis.
A first flowring seedling, only just opening , and I expect the faint coerulean flush on the petals to darken a bit - it is clear in sunlight but not well registerd in the photo.

A nice one , in my eyes , although the flowering on an immature growth worries me a bit - I don't want to lose you Edith ! Not large - barely 3inch flowers. But with that parentage I cabn hope for more in the cluster.

    Beautiful...what a great color!

I am so tired of the whole name thing. So, if C bowringiana isn't a C anymore, what is it, please?

I think that now it's a Guarianthe. I don't like the changes either.

Geoff I love the color on your blooms !!! I've got a C. Mini Purple x C. walkeriana that also blooms on the inmature growths and they develop. I think that because of the walkeriana background.

Very pretty. I am sure the colour will improve in the next few days. Great potential from a first time bloomer.

This is lovely as it is Geoff. When the blooms mature a bit that deepening of the colors should be impressive. I have had six Cattleya's starting a year ago. Of these one died and five are very healthy with new growths, but no blooms yet. I think I purchased these Catts as winter/early spring bloomers and I need better grow lighting at these times of the year for flowers. Any way I hope to be able to post first blooms as you have here someday. AL

Geoff, that is a beautiful blue orchid bloom. However, you should take care to kill those pests under the top leaves before they kill your beautiful plant. Looks like they are taking a strong hold there.

    Cheers,
