There is a remarkable difference in root growth since I started using this as a tonic. I've been spraying once a week for a few months. And holy cow...have I had a jungle of really thick roots emerge on all the vandas and catts.
I have a philodendron in the house that is in a large pot growing all over a totem. I sprayed the plant and I now have a massive amount of growth on a plant that has done nothing for months.
I honestly believe it improves absorption.

We have used seaweed extract and fish emulsion both before with similar results. Only issues is if you have an automated fertilizing system. The stuff will clog the system. So now, when using either of these we put in a hand pump sprayer. I wouldn't recommend putting this stuff into an expensive backpack sprayer either, though I haven't tried it in ours since the stuff caused some issues with the auto-fert system we normally use for MSU and Miracle gro (dry based - fertilizers.)

Cathy; The idea of simply spraying the roots with a hand pump is a good one. I also use the fish fertilizer with seaweed. May I ask, do you use this weekly along with your regular fertilizer mixed in or separately on the same day? Whats your dosage and routine here please. AL

I agree, I use liquid seaweed weekly as a spray. I make sure to get foilage as well as top of medium, where is is supposedly 8-20X more effective.

How much do you use for a liter of water?? I know how much I use when adding it to my regular water, but not when foliar spraying.

I add once ounce per gallon. I use sprayer and spray each plant entirely. I use it once a week. And yes, I still fertilize with a non-urea based product.

It is storming...but I will post a fairly dramatic of a Vanda Lamellata var. Boxallii and the new roots it has put out towards the crown. It will be very easy to distinguish the new growth from the old. The roots are thicker then a pencil and the plant has three new spikes.
I love this stuff!
They type I use is not anywhere as thick as the fish emulsion. There is a great discussion on using the two somewhere. If I can find it I will copy some if it and post it, here.

Thanks. I've thought about trying seaweed or fish emulsion before but never did. Think I will add this to my list next time I purchase supplies.
