Orchid Wiz

I am wondering what everyone is using for research? I would love to have the Orchid Wiz but it is $300 so I keep using the RHS site for free. (In case you haven't used the RHS or Orchid Wiz you can look up parentage of your orchids there and who registered the orchid etc).

If you had to pick just one program what would it be?

For me, even if I could no longer grow orchids myself, as I long as I enjoyed reading orchid books or forums I would want to have OrchidWiz. It is the one resource I look at nearly every day - pictures, culture, parents/offspring, related hybrids or species, wishlist, awards, and more. Far more info in one place than any other resource, and fast - just seconds to look up complete ancestry of a hybrid instead of hours, etc.

Do you ever research past two generations? Do you want to find the species make-up of your hybrids? Do you find yourself cursing the RHS database when researching a complex Cattleya hybrid? These are all reasons to consider Orchid Wiz. I wouldn't be without it. Only you can decide if the cost is acceptable to you.

Would love to get it, but just can't justify the cost. Although, you now have me thinking. I just got a call for a church window re-lead. I guess if I have to do all that work I deserve a treat when it is done. Hmmmmmm.....

Jonada, you DO deserve it I checked out Kew and it is an interesting site but I don't know about any info for hybrids over there.

I have been wanting Orchidwiz for a long time, some time ago, Bruce had made it possible for members of OT to get orchidwiz at a discounted price, he said he could do it again if there are many people willing to get it, so lets write down the names of people interested in this link, so that Bruce gets an idea on numbers
