Cattleya - sunburn? propping up leaves? Plant name

My Cattleya is has been summering outside & has done nicely. Except for when I went out of town for a long weekend in very hot weather (upper 90s - low 100s) & asked my adult children to keep an eye on & to water my orchids. The photos show a large black spot on a leaf. Is this sunburn? What do I do about this leaf? Also, most of the leaves are laying across the pot. I've seen other pictures on the forum of cattleya leaves tied together to hold them upright. Is this something I should also do, or is it not necessary? This plant started out as just 1 large & 3 tiny leaves when purchased. It has not bloomed yet but I wasn't expecting it to since it was so small. Also, if someone could translate this name for me, that would be great - the tag reads:

Looks like you got hit with sunburn. Cut off the leaf below the burn and dust with cinnamon. You can stake your plants to help them grow upright. It looks like it has a ways to go before it is blooming size

Yes it definitely is sun burn. If I were you, I would leave it untouched, do not let it get wet and stay moist as it might invite fungal problems. In a few days you could cut it off as the plant will form a seal around it just like around a wound. As for tying of the growths, it can be termed essential or aesthetic depending on your culture. Upright stems minimises the water remaining standing in the leaf an bulb axils etc. It also means a better floral placement, but still not essential.

Have grown various orchids for years Mary more so lately and still make dreadful mistakes with culturing my plants. It sure annoys the hell out of you doesnt it? I never cut leaves for cosmetic aesthetic reasons as Amey said as this can increase other risk factors. Prefer to live with it and put it down to experience.

Thanks for the help everyone! I will leave the sunburned leaf alone, but keep an eye on it. If it appears to be rotting or if the spot starts getting bigger, I will cut it off & dust with cinnamon. It as a tiny plant when I got it & it's added several new leaves since then. I just want to take good care of it so it will give me nice blooms some day. Looks like Cattleyas produce gorgeous blooms! I'm going to google the name because I'm curious, still being a newbie to orchids. Thank you!!

The list of cattleyas is endless and produce outstanding blooms from no scent to heavily fragrant in a gigantic colour range. They do need well lit conditions and can grow vigorously, rewarding you over and over again with blooms. I mount all mine as pot culture kills them in my environment with over watering but many many growers succeed with great results with pot growing.
