Victoria, It happens outside, too. You can have all the right parameters in place and you still can get rot. When you mist...just make sure they are pretty dry before the cool of the evening. If you notice water accumulation in the crown...just tip it over and let the water run out on a tray.
Don't get to frustrated...it happens. We've all had it at one time or another.
Are you able to take them outside to spray? I would recommend a good systemic fungicide(s) I make a cocktail of sorts rotating three different kinds. If you need help just ask...I will give you the directions on what I use and how often.
