I recently obtained a sm. Neo. that I think I did an adequate job of potting in the traditional style. I still don't have much of a clue to the watering requirements, but I suppose, this being a fairly hardy sp. trial and error will work. What I'd really like to know from someone who keeps these little ones is about fertilizing. I know they don't require much, but exactly when do you fertilize and in what concentration, (I'd appreciate tsp. per gal, or something to that effect instead of ppm, which is frankly lost on me!)

I dont grow these but my grandad has hundreds.
He uses a balanced fertilizer and mixed at 1/4 to 1/2 recommended strength and applies it weekly during the active growth. He also uses a low nitrogen and high phosphate in autumn as he reckons it makes it bloom better and hardens the growth off. If they are in pots he flushes out every two weeks or so. As for watering he never lets dry out... Hope this helps

Tony, I also grow my Neos in a traditional moss mound. During the summer, I water them when the upper surface is showing some dryness. I decided not to apply any fertilizer this year. Surprisingly, they are doing so much better than the previous year and growing outside.

They are very seasonal ; if you miss the season, you just have to wait until next year. I had trouble flowering them until I found out that they really do need high light. A certain US nursery - maybe recently closed - specialising in them claimed 1500- 3000 FC which is very very bright, perhaps even higher trhan I could possibly give in Uk, but we do flower them well here , despite that ; maybe he has a duff meter !
