Yes, clay pots are great UNTIL you want to re-pot the orchid...then you'll find that the roots are stuck everywhere; all over, inside and outside the clay pot. This doesn't happen with plastic ( I use clear pots, with slits/holes in the bottom ) pots, with LECA as the medium. Since I am using clear plastic pots, life has gotten MUCH more simple in the greenhouse. No more soaking the plant to remove old decayed media/roots from clay pots. I simply gently pull the orchid out of it's pot, remove any dead roots and place the orchid in another pot & add media ( LECA ) The orchids that I have done this with don't even skip a beat! Thats when you just repot pot in pot Dendrobiums LOVE plastic btw
