yea.....mum had a whinge when i asked to go and pick them up, but when i got them to the car, her eyes nearly popped out, and im sure Hamilton City has a new river.....The red bucket was packed, and she just went YUMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!

We can get an inky shroom here called Lawyers Wig, and they need to be eaten young. Apparently they need to be eaten in the same hour they are picked in! Makes it impractical for BROWN GRAVY.....yummy....

We got a good crop on our shitake logs this fall. Can't wait for next year.

Cathy, we found some wild growing miatake again this year and we inoculated some trees out in the woods with the spore so that hopefully in the next couple of years we will have a LOAD of them. I will keep you in mind if we do.

We slice them up and fry them in a pan with a little Avocado oil infused with Horopito, homegrown courgette, my nummy heirloom tomatoes, homegrown Maori potatoes (Urenika is the best!), and a bit of homegrown herbs like Thyme and Oregano. They are great! Then if dad feels like it, he will add an egg (the mushrooms soak up the oil), and make a sort of pan frittata!

We find lots of morels every spring. I will try to remember to contact you and see if you want some, Pavel. Didn't find many miatake this year. Too dry at the key time.

Boy that is really cool, Jordy! I have never seen these kits before. We go through tons of mushrooms here since we eat lots of salads in my home. I need to look into this some more... Very cool

I think all you do is layer a bit of straw on the base, then some compost and some more straw, then a bit of peat ontop-then innoculate. Easy peasy! There is another forum for this specifically called Myco-Tec, but some of the language on there is a bit strong! And they do more than grow edible mushrooms.....

Interesting, but I was wondering why use pails? In commercial situations, they use very large trays for a larger surface area so that more of the fungal fruiting bodies (the mushrooms) can grow. Several trays are stacked in racks about 2-3m high.
